We have one full-time Chiropractor, Alyson Wreford DC, CCSP and one part- time, Liz McGown DC. Both Chiropractors are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) & members of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) If locum assistance is required at any time, the Chiropractors will be fully qualified and acquainted with techniques used in the 'practice'. You will be told which Chiropractor you will be seeing when making an appointment.
SOT TechniqueThe chiropractic system of treatment most frequently used in this
practice is SOT. This is a particularly low force technique and includes
methods of treating the body's framework, organs and systems. |

Alyson Wreford is one of a small number of Certified Craniopaths in the UK and is qualified to teach these techniques to Chiropractors in Europe
Chiropractors very often use radiographs to help with the diagnosis of a problem and assess the condition of the skeletal system. The practice does not offer an X-ray facility, if x-rays are thought to be necessary you will be referred elsewhere for this service.
This practice also specialises in sports injuries, Alyson Wreford is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (USA) and has been involved in treating elite sportsmen and women from the UK and Africa for over 15 years. Liz McGown is currently working with the Whitstable Rugby Football Club.
Consultations are by appointment only. The initial appointment consists of a detailed case history and physical examination; a treatment may be included in this visit. You will be asked to change into a patient gown, thereby making examination & treatment easier for both patient and Chiropractor. Please tell the receptionist if you do not wish to change or you have been told by your Chiropractor that it is not necessary.
Not all patients will respond to Chiropractic treatment in the same way or at the same rate. It is likely that you will experience some reaction, especially to the initial treatment. This may consist of an ache or soreness for 24 to 36 hours, sometimes other reactions occur such as extreme tiredness, headaches, or light headedness. Should you experience any unusual symptoms following your visit and are concerned, please telephone the practice or report them to your Chiropractor on your next visit.
Correct treatment is vital but how you look after yourself between
visits is also important for your progress. Follow carefully any instructions
given to you by your Chiropractor. DO NOT 'tryout' the system. Bending
and twisting the joints after treatment is likely to cause damage
or inflammation. Take care how you sit and stand, do not cross the
legs when sitting and with standing and stand with your weight equally on both feet.
Pain is your body's warning system, DO NOT push to 'the other side'
of the pain barrier, this will cause further damage .
Other qualified therapists work at Evolution Health offering treatments such as Aromatherapy, Homoeopathy and Reflexology.
